Pain Free Living #7
You have 2 immune systems- innate and humoral. Innate system fully develops around 3 years of age. The humoral evolves and adapts to your environment. Once both immune systems are fully functional, the innate is always your first line of defense.
Both immune systems come into play with gluten, which is why there is so much confusion about how it can affect different people differently. Gluten sensitivity, which most people associate with celiac disease, is an innate response and the reaction is the production of nonspecific chemicals. In contrast a humoral response to gluten involves the production of antibodies which are specific. But whatever the cause, the result is the same: INFLAMMATION.
The biggest problem is most doctors only measure the humoral response using lab tests for IgG or IgA antibodies to one or two forms of gluten. Remember I wrote about the hundreds of "other" different proteins found in the gluten families? So now you are missing the possible immune responses and the diagnosis is in accurate.
*The grain triggers the innate immune system response directly.
*Eating grain triggers leaky gut, which overstimulates the immune system.
*The immune response is actually caused by pesticides within the grain
*Genetic hybridization and manipulation of the genes in grains are to blame.
*Myocotozins- chemicals created by mold on the grain as well as on peanuts and other foods may also be a factor
*Other proteins found in grains trigger immune inflammation.
Ready to be tested yet???
